It had to happen as Amazing Grace was just getting too big for her turkey legs to comfortably support. Bert and friends dispatched... harvested... Amazing Grace last Saturday and she is now in our freezer. When you know an animal's eventual destiny, you don't get too attached but somehow Grace's survival had really touched me, and I found myself saddened by her demise. And while this would probably be a good place to share some tasty and thrifty turkey recipes, I hope you'll understand if I don't!
But I will be back soon with some recipes to perk up those winter-weary appetites - and pocketbooks!
